Black Baron Miniatures

Unknown sculptor although I always suspected it was Dick Higgs of Minifigs fame branching out on his own as the sculpting style was very similar to some of the Minifigs later fantasy lines. They were released in the mid 80s for a few years under Borbur Enterprises with Stone Mountain Miniatures of America producing them under licence in the States. Borbur Enterprises appears to have folded in 1993 or thereabouts with a John Borrowman listed as the director - Steadfast Toy Soldiers were the toy soldier area of Borbur and the molds were picked up by RP World Models when John retired some years back. I have chased further information and will post as soon as received!

OSFMapa Journal No. 2 on it's way to Blighty.....

2nd issue of the Old School Fantasy Miniatures Yahoo group's APA Journal - I keep reading reviews but haven't got my filthy hands on it yet....the downfall of being on the 'wrong' side of the pond........come on Mr Postman! My contribution is a John Carter article................

Contents page......................

Wonderful wraparound cover of Archive Miniatures from their Middle Earth range, all based on the Brothers Hildebrandt artwork..........released back in the 70s......

We are putting some extra copies up on evil bay soon.........more details once I get them!

Games Workshop June 1978......

Something of a quick trip down memory lane here.........

Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone on the outside, 2 house points to Gryffindor if you can name the 2 lads in the middle....................

4A Miniatures and a little more piratey goodness....

Went to a great show at the weekend - Phalanx - picked up a bunch of nice bits and pieces including some Jim Bowen sculpted pirates off Andy at 4A Miniatures - really nice figures and they have joined the painting queue along with 200 or so others from Freebooter, Foundry and Reaper...oh, and a few old old Citadel rogues from the 80s Thieves range. Had a good chat with Andy - he is looking to expand the ranges so go over to the shop and encourage him by buying something!

Excellent Creature from the Black Lagoon sculpted by Paul Muller....

Sea demon warriors....again by Paul

Snow troopers by Adam 'Whiffwaff' Gayford......these have been sitting in my paint queue for too long....these examples painted by Dags of Frothers fame.

The Copplestone Castings Snow Mobile goes perfectly with these......

2 sets of goblins by Kev 'Goblinmaster' Adams.....

And here are a few of my painted Pirate figs....not quite enough for a crew as yet but time lingers on......excuse the poor pics.....one day I will make myself a light box but that is another project....

More next time :)
